To Judge or Not to Judge?

Judge Not, Lest You be Judged We hear it all too often “Judge Not, lest you be Judged”, well let’s compare all scripture together and see how it fits. 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of BROTHER if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.” Observations: “I wonder how many people we would have left in our churches TODAY? Is this not a command? If so why don’t we practice it? Test yourself … Sexual Immoral? Lust? Fantasy? Wondering Eyes? Fornication, Cheating? Porn? …. Or GREEDY, consumed by your […]

Good Tree, Bad Tree

No Good Tree Bears Bad Fruit – Luke 6:43-45 Opening Thoughts: Can you imagine seeing totally dead tree and on it’s branches was the most amazing fruit? It’s impossible. What about if you were on a journey and were desperately hungry, in front of you a ways ahead you could see an orchard filled with big green fruit trees, you were so excited to sink your teeth into some nourishing, refreshing fruit, but as you approached them you realized there was no fruit on these trees. They were barren. What a disappointment. Luke 6:43-45 “For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the […]

Is Social Justice the Gospel?

There are two separate subjects I want to address in this text. The first dealing with Social Justice and the Gospel, and the second dealing with healing itself. Luke 5:16-26 On one of those days, as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with him to heal. 18 And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus, 19 but finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst before Jesus. 20 And when he saw their faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 21 […]

Who’s Desire’s do You Have?

Today’s study was awesome, as some of you know I’m going through the book of Luke, love this book. I think one of the biggest things that hit me in this book so far, has been the demonstration of what the Holy Spirit does when He invades our lives. Someone who claims to be in the Spirit should look, act and think about everything in a different way than the world does! Luke 4:14-15 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. The Holy Spirits Power: So in the beginning  of Luke we see a couple who is visited by an angel and is told that they will have a son and that they were to name him John and that he would turn people […]

What is the fruit of your lips?

What is your favorite thing to talk about? That one topic that when it comes up you light up and could talk for hours…. I read this passage in Matthew 12 tonight and it produced two effects in my heart: It added to my fear of the Lord and it caused me to examine the fruit of my lips; the things I talk about the most and what I am most passionate about. I am thankful that the gospel remains my favorite topic, but I noticed some rotten fruit that needed pruning as well. Careless words flow easily when we couldn’t care less, so we must take care to speak words that reflect the Word and the Inspiration of the Word if that is truly what is in our heart. Matthew 12:33-37 .. “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, […]

Should Temptation Really be Tempting?

Jesus was Tempted – Luke 4:2-4 Opening Thoughts: First of all I want to acknowledge brother David Wilkerson who passed away yesterday April 27, 2011 in a car accident. David Wilkerson has been one of those people that I take very serious. Both my wife Danae and I have expressed on many occasions that this is a man that scares us when he preaches, and when we say scares us we mean it seams as though you are sitting listening to one of the prophets from the Bible. He preached with such conviction it could make a drunk snap out of a drunken stupor. I loved to listen to him, and God through his preaching has impacted my life in a very big way! David Wilkerson will not be a name forgotten around our home. I was reading today in Luke 4:2-4 I’m working my way through Luke’s gospel right […]

Wishing you could be Accursed?

For I could wish that I myself were cursed – Romans 9:3 Losing A Game on Purpose: Have you ever wished that you could lose a game for the sake of someone else winning? Have you ever played a game and while you were playing it you felt sorry for the opposing player and tried to lose for their sake? I think I have a few times with my son, but no one else! Are you kidding, it’s a game the goal is to win, not lose. It’s in our nature to win. Have You Ever Wished You Could Take Someone’s Sickness? Let’s take this up to a more serious level. Have you ever been with someone who is sick, maybe with the flu and you said to yourself “I wish it was me that was sick and not them, I wish I could take that sickness for them?” Have […]

Happy Easter!

Opening Thoughts: Here’s our first blog post, Danae and I are launching into some things we feel God is calling us to. Writing daily Blogs on our devotions is one of them. We trust that God will speak to you through the words we say. I do not know where you stand with Christ, so I decided to write this note and pray that the right people read it and are blown away by God’s irresistible grace! To God be the glory! Who Is Jesus: Jesus is everything for you, or He is nothing for you. He wasn’t just some good teacher, or a good example, He’s not a quick fix for your messed-up marriage, or a lottery ticket for your financial trouble, or just some medical potion to cure your disease! He is the Christ, The Savoir, The LIVING GOD… Who died once and for all! He put to […]
